Young Thug Responds to Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" Namedrop: 'I'm a Drake Fan'

Fresh off the announcement of his new album UY Scuti and the arrival of its lead single "Money on Money," Young Thug has shared his long-awaited response to being mentioned on Kendrick Lamar's scathing Drake diss "Not Like Us." In an interview with Zach Baron for GQ, Thugger was asked about whether he kept up with hip-hop while behind bars.

During much of Thug's stint in jail amid the long YSL RICO trial, hip-hop headlines were dominated by Drake and Kendrick Lamar's beef. Thug, among a number of other rappers, were name-dropped in K Dot's finishing blow, "Not LIke Us."

"Yeah, [Kendrick] just spoke on people's name in Atlanta," Thug said, diplomatically, when asked how he felt about Atlanta getting "dragged" into the beef. "I don't know what that was about. I'm a Drake fan."

In the third verse of "Not Like Us," Kendrick name-dropped several notable Atlanta rappers who have worked with Drake, and accused him of using them to improve his image or streaming numbers.

"You run to Atlanta when you need a check balance/Let me break it down for you, this the real n***a challenge," he raps. "You called Future when you didn't see the club/Lil Baby helped you get your lingo up/21 gave you false street cred/Thug made you feel like you a slime in your head/Quavo said you can be from Northside/2 Chainz say you good, but he lied/You run to Atlanta when you need a few dollars/No, you not a colleague, you a fuckin' colonizer."

Thug has collaborated with Drake a lot throughout his career, and he even called for Drake, Future, and Metro Boomin to settle their differences last year. "@Drake @1future @MetroBoomin we all bruddas. Music aint the same without us collabin," he wrote. He did not, however, address Drake and Kendrick's beef directly. Before that, Thug's partner Mariah the Scientist said that Thug "fucks with everybody" involved in the feud.
