Young Thug Responds to Troll Saying He's 'Not' Playboi Carti
The troll was responding to a tweet in which Thug said his fans would have to "beg" him to drop new music.
Shortly after confirming his first post-prison live performance, Young Thug clapped back at a troll who took a shot by saying the rapper is "not" Playboi Carti.
In a tweet shared on Thursday, Thugger teased fans waiting for new material. "Y'all mfers goin have to beg me to drop this shit nocizzy," he wrote.
In response, a big-time Carti fan tweeted, "U NOT CARTI LIL BRA."
Their response was presumably a reference to how Carti kept teasing his long-awaited album MUSIC for years before it dropped, leaving fans thirsting for new material.
That, or the troll was just looking to provoke Thug, who even appears on MUSIC.
In a follow-up tweet, Thug clowned the troll. "I wonder who's couch you're on tweeting this," he wrote. The user then posted a lengthy apology, which others guessed was generated by AI, but did not delete the original tweet.
"You are a trailblazer, a legend, and an artist whose influence has shaped the sound and culture of music in ways that go far beyond comparison," the user's post said. "My words were thoughtless and fail to reflect the admiration I have for you and your craft."
The interaction with the fan comes shortly after Thug announced that he'll perform as the headliner on the closing night of Lyrical Lemonade's Summer Smash festival in Chicago this June.
It marks his first headlining live show since he was released from prison in October after two years behind bars over the YSL RICO case. He hasn't indicated when fans can expect new music, but frequent collaborator Metro Boomin teased a new album from Thugger earlier this year.
