No, Cassie Didn’t Say Nicki Minaj Told Her to Stay With Diddy Despite Abuse Claims
In a fake tweet, Cassie alleged that Minaj told her to, "'Stop complaining.'"
Claims that Cassie Ventura said Nicki Minaj told her to stay with Diddy after finding out about the alleged abuse are not true.
Inner City Press reporter Matthew Russell Lee took to X on Friday morning to let his followers know that a “falsified post” had been making the rounds online that appears to be from his account.
“The post below is NOT from Inner City Press,” he wrote.
Lee has been sharing the trial transcripts on X since Diddy's case can't be streamed or videotaped.
In the falsified tweet, the prosecution asks Ventura about entertainers whom she could reach out to, perhaps for support. Ventura explained that there were too many people “loyal” to Diddy.
When asked who she meant, Cassie names Minaj in the falsified tweet. “I reached out to Nicki Minaj, and she told me to stop complaining," the tweet wrote. "It’s part of the game. You are rich and famous. Girls will die to be in my shoes.”
Lee then shared the actual line of questioning about Minaj from Diddy’s attorney, Anna Estevao.
“Beyond Kid Cudi, what other musicians were you put in the studio with? Were you put in the studio with Nicki Minaj?” Estevao asked, to which Ventura responded, “Yes.”
Lee also included a note to his followers: “This is the first and so far only reference to Nicki Minaj in this trial.”
Estevao also asked about other artists Cassie worked with, including Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Pusha T.
Nicki and Cassie collaborated on the 2012 song, “The Boys,” which served as the lead single for the reissue of Minaj’s second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up.
On Friday, Cassie Ventura’s husband, Alex Fine, issued a statement through her attorney during Diddy’s trial. He responded to speculation about his emotions while hearing Cassie’s testimony and rejected the idea that he “saved” her, saying: “I have felt tremendous pride and overwhelming love for Cass. I have felt profound anger that she has been subjected to sitting in front of a person who tried to break her."
