Former Canadian politician Jagmeet Singh was in hot water after Drake learned he attended one of Kendrick Lamar’s Toronto tour stops.

The former New Democratic Party leader was in for a rude awakening when Drake called him a “goof” over Instagram DM on Sunday (June 15), which the rapper also shared a screenshot of on his Instagram Story.

Singh, who can be seen in Drake’s screenshot thanking him for a follow in 2019, attempted to rectify the situation by responding on his own Story:

“I went for SZA, not Kendrick,” Singh wrote. “I was born in this city. I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn’t have gone at all.”

“OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and [Canada],” Singh continued. “For me it’ll always be Drake over Kendrick.”

However, the damage has been done and Drake appears to have taken back his follow after this perceived act of betrayal. Singh still follows him.
Lamar’s Grand National tour made a splash in Drake’s hometown, with fans requesting an encore of his scathing diss, “Not Like Us.” Lamar did not satisfy their request.

Meanwhile, SiR jokingly claimed that his 2024 Toronto tour date was canceled due to the feud between Drake and his former Top Dawg Entertainment label mate. He finally returned to the city in early June, saying, “I kinda got caught in the middle of a beef that I ain’t had shit to do with. I just want to say right now: I did not cancel my show last year, Drake did.”

“No, no, no, but real talk, it was like some complications and… it was too close to home for a lot of people. So the venue in Toronto, which was ‘partially owned by Drake,’ canceled the show completely,” he continued. “Then when we tried to switch venues, the next venue was like, ‘Nah, we ain't fucking with it and I ain't taking no motherfucking chance. You're gonna get your ass beat in Toronto.’”
