Freddie Gibbs Says Inmate Who Stabbed Tory Lanez Was ‘Trying to Send’ Him ‘Upstairs’
Gibbs thinks someone was trying to take Lanez's life after reports said the rapper was stabbed 14 times.
Freddie Gibbs believes someone was trying to kill Tory Lanez following news that the latter was reportedly stabbed multiple times in prison.
On Monday (May 12), shortly after news got out that Lanez had been stabbed, Gibbs shared a post on X reflecting on the incident. An update on Tory Lanez's Instagram claimed he was stabbed 14 times, suffered collapsed lungs and was placed on a "breathing apparatus." According to Gibbs, the incident and the severity of Lanez's injuries are a sign that the suspect was trying to end the rapper's life.
"N***a stab you 14 times he trying to send you upstairs," Gibbs tweeted.
TMZ reported that another inmate stabbed the 32-year-old Canadian star during an altercation in the yard of the California Correctional Institution. A source claimed Lanez was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, but his injuries were non-life-threatening.
The post shared on Lanez's Instagram account reported he had "7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face." However, Lanez's condition has improved as he is reportedly "breathing on his own" and "talking normally" in addition to being in "good spirits," according to the Instagram post. The motivation behind the stabbing has yet to be revealed.
Lanez is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Despite being in prison, Lanez has kept up with his music by releasing his latest album, Peterson, and announcing another project to be released in summer 2025.
