Brian ‘B.Dot’ Miller Says He’s ‘Not Friends’ With Elliott Wilson, Hasn’t Spoken to Him Since 2024
These days, Elliott co-hosts 'The Bigger Picture' for Uproxx.
Brian “B.Dot” Miller is opening up about what happened with his and Elliott Wilson’s collaborative relationship, telling Joe Budden and company in a podcast appearance this week that he hasn’t spoken with his previous Rap Radar co-host since May.
In April of last year, as you’ll recall, it was announced that Wilson, whose decades of influence once earned him the No. 8 spot on Complex’s Hip-Hop Media Power Ranking, had been made editorial director of hip-hop journalism for Uproxx, HipHopDX, and Dime. At the time, as seen in Billboard, the Uproxx Studios deal was said to see Wilson set to “continue holding down his role as co-host of the Rap Radar podcast” with B.Dot.
“I thought the terms were fair,” Miller said on an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast this week when looking back on what ultimately happened with him and Wilson. “I was just ready to get back to work. So that’s what happened and we just became free agents. That was in May and that was the last time I talked to Elliott.”
Elsewhere, as seen in the clips below, Miller said he and Wilson are “friendly, but not friends in the traditional sense.” Elaborating on this, he said they aren’t at the level of “hitting each other up casually” to, for example, grab a couple drinks.
“Elliott is a cool guy,” B.Dot said. “Working with him isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do. It’s been fun. We made history. We did a lot of iconic shit. But I think the last year and a half has been exacerbated because of you, Joe Budden.”
Back in 2023, Budden appeared on Elliott and B.Dot’s podcast. B.Dot now points to this moment as a crucial one, saying Wilson has since leaned into what he described as an “antagonistic persona.” Miller also said he noticed “the effects” not long after that conversation, theorizing that it could be damaging the work he and Wilson did together in the past. Ultimately, however, “you can’t tell a grown man what to do.”
In another clip, Budden is seen calling Wilson, noting at the top of their conversation that he’s “calling for smoke” after talking with B.Dot.
“The deal didn’t work out, man,” Wilson said. “I wasn’t pussyfooting around. We couldn’t get the deal done. You can appreciate that we didn’t like certain language in the contract.”
From there, Budden playfully called Wilson a “piece of shit” multiple times, with Wilson ultimately questioning why Budden himself, as well as Charlamagne, haven’t utilized their respective positions in a different way.
“You and Charlamagne are funny,” he said. “Y’all got all these critiques and shit. Meanwhile, you’re in a position of power to work with brothers and it’s a lot of talk.”
These days, Wilson hosts Uproxx’s The Bigger Picture with Jeremy Hecht and DJ Hed.
