Ben Affleck's ‘Erratic Mood Swings’ Reportedly Contributed to Jennifer Lopez Divorce

Ben Affleck’s alleged “erratic mood swings” may have played a role in the demise of his marriage to Jennifer Lopez, People reports.

A source told the outler that the 52-year-old actor experienced “erratic behavior” and “giant mood swings” that took Affleck from “being incredibly happy and warm” to “the deepest, darkest behavior.”

"The truth is there was a great deal of love but also unfortunately what became clear were Ben's erratic mood swings that he couldn't hide from the press, as much as he tried to,” the source told the magazine.

Lopez, 55, filed for divorce from Affleck last Tuesday after two years of marriage. The couple infamously rekindled their relationship in 2021 nearly 20 years after they once dominated Hollywood as the “it” couple in the early aughts.

“They were trying to work through it, but when the mood swings and the big highs and big lows informed a toxicity that was pervasive, no one can help you — you have to help yourself,” said the source, per People.

“But I would not be so bold to say there isn't love — of course there is. The world was rooting for them, but who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people,” they added.

People also reported that Affleck has not been in contact with Lopez’s 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

The opposite is allegedly true of J.Lo, who is reportedly “still close to [Jennifer] Garner and all five kids,” according to the source. Affleck’s children include Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, all of whom he welcomed with Garner.

“The fact that he has not seen her kids in a long time, it’s like he left, but she is especially close to his kids,” added the source, while pointIng out that Lopez was in attendance at Samuel’s graduation ceremony in June while Violet spent a week with her during a vacation in the Hamptons in July.

The source added that Lopez is also close with ex husband Marc’s four children that he welcomed prior to his relationship with Lopez.

Those children include Arianna, 30, and Chase, 28, whom Anthony welcomed with ex Debbie Rosado. There’s also Cristian, 23, and Ryan, 21, whom the “Vivir Mi Vida” singer shares with ex-wife Dayanara Torres, per People.

Lopez's divorce filing coincided with the second anniversary of a wedding ceremony they held in Georgia. However, the couple had tied the knot in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022.

On the legal documents filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Lopez listed their date of separation on April 26, 2024.
