Regina Hall is officially heading back to Woodsboro-adjacent chaos.

Paramount has set a new Scary Movie for June 12, 2026, with Hall returning as Brenda Meeks alongside Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The reboot is directed by Michael Tiddes and written by the franchise’s original architects—Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans—who created the 2000 hit that launched four sequels.

Production is slated to begin in October, with Paramount handling global distribution through its first-look deal with Miramax, which released the first three films.

Hall and Faris confirmed their comeback in a joint statement that nods to the series’ anything-goes spirit: “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”

The new installment is written and produced by Rick Alvarez and the Wayans brothers.

The original Scary Movie opened in July 2000 and immediately reset expectations for parody at the box office. Starring Faris as Cindy and Regina Hall as Brenda, the film debuted to $42 million domestically—setting records at the time for the biggest opening weekend for an R-rated horror film and a Black director.

Its success kicked off a five-film run that became known for skewering the biggest horror titles of the moment while turning supporting characters like Hall’s Brenda into fan favorites.

Behind the camera, the Wayans brothers parlayed that momentum into other comedies, including White Chicks (2004) and Little Man (2006), before branching into solo projects. Their return to the Scary Movie universe reunites the core creative team that first defined the franchise’s tone.

The greenlight arrives during a strong stretch for spoofs. Paramount’s recently released The Naked Gun revival has grossed over $59 million worldwide since its opening earlier this month.
