Tyler, The Creator wants you to start dancing again.
Key to this initiative is his new album DON'T TAP THE GLASS, out now. Like CHROMAKOPIA before it, the latest from Tyler arrived on a Monday, again bucking the longstanding industry standard of Friday rollouts.
If you’re just waking up and looking to start your week off the right way, keep reading for more on how to ensure exactly that, all courtesy of an artist who has consistently delivered some of the most exciting and inspiring work of his time.
When is Tyler, The Creator’s new album DON'T TAP THE GLASS out?
The album, Tyler’s ninth, was released on Monday, July 21. This follows the Monday rollout of CHROMAKOPIA last October, which itself came just under a year after Tyler detailed his stance that Friday releases, the industry standard since 2015, encouraged “passive listening” instead of a deeper engagement with the work.
Where can I buy Tyler, The Creator’s new album DON'T TAP THE GLASS on vinyl?
Over on the Golf Wang shop, fans, for a limited time, can expand the DON'T TAP THE GLASS experience by going the physical. In addition to vinyl, the new album is also available on CD and in a trio of boxed set options.
What has Tyler, The Creator said about his new album DON'T TAP THE GLASS?
In a note shared to X and Instagram on Monday, Tyler made it clear that his new, 10-track album “was not made for sitting still.” Instead, “any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it,” per Tyler.
“I asked some friends why they don’t dance in public and some said because of the fear of being filmed,” Tyler wrote, as seen below. “I thought damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connction they have with music is now a ghost. It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme, all for having a good time. I just got back from a 'listening party' for this album and man was it one of the greatest nites of my life. 300 people. No phones allowed. No cameras, just speakers and a sweatbox.
Tyler continued, “Everyone was dancing. moving, expressing, sweating. It was truly beautiful, I played the album front to back twice. It felt like that pent-up energy finally got released and we craved the idea of letting more of it out. There was a freedom that filled the room. A ball of energy that might not translate to every speaker that plays this album but man did that room nail it. This album was not made for sitting still. Dancing, driving, running—any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it. Only at full volume.”
Quick to get ahead of any potential misinterpretation, Tyler later added that “the phone stuff” discussed above isn’t “why I made this album.”
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
