Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, Julia Fox Star in Trailer for Jordan Peele-Produced 'HIM'
Tyriq is following up his turn in 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' with a Peele-produced project.
Much is said about the sacrifices required to achieve greatness, with few of us—very few, indeed—truly prepared to give of ourselves what is required to go down in history. This existential conundrum is at the heart of a new film from Get Out and Nope filmmaker Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, titled HIM.
In it, Marlon Wayans plays a football champ who offers to train recent I Know What You Did Last Summer star Tyriq Withers’ character, notably in the nick of time following an injury sustained during a fan attack. The two are joined in the cast by Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies,Maurice Greene, Guapdad 4000, and Tierra Whack.
At the top of a new trailer, Withers character, Cameron Cade, is positioned as a potential “next great quarterback” in a TV interview. Asked why he’s entering training with Wayans’ character, Isaiah White, Withers answers, simply, “I wanna be the GOAT.”
This drive fuels what comes next, all while a trailer-ified version of 2Pac’s “Hail Mary” soundtracks this two-minute look at what director Justin Tipping and company have in store this September.
Peele produced the Wayans-led title alongside Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson. See the trailer above.
In an interview with Big Boy in July, Wayans, who recently wrapped his Wild Child tour, said he “can’t wait” for fans to experience Justin's film.
“HIM is a psychological horror thriller,” Wayans, who noted that he’s “the villain” in the film, said at the time. “You’re gonna see Marlon Wayans like you haven’t seen me before. I see it today actually for the first time but I know what I did on the set and what my director Justin Tipping, what he brought out of me. He just kept challenging me to bring all of me to it, no holds barred.”
